Our members might be interested in an article from last week’s Ringing World that:
“The Ypres bells will be on display with the Thornycroft and Dennis Lorries that will deliver them to Ypres in a special WW1 Centenary Area: https://www.gdsf.co.uk/ww1- centenary-commemoration- display/” at the Great Dorset Steam Fair.
For those that have not been following this project it is to install a ring of eight bells at the St George’s Memorial Chapel in Ypres. The bells have been cast by Taylors and will be stopping off at the Steam Fair at Tarrant Hinton en route to Belgium and a rededication service at the end of August. https://mydonate.bt.com/ charities/bells4stgeorgeypres
If anyone visits and gets some pictures I would be grateful to receive any for the Guild website and Face to Face: please send to email@example.com.
I am enquiring about any PR/ recruitment activities that might be attached to this for ringing.
Could you please encourage your members to ring sometime between Thursday 24 and Monday 28 August to mark the presence in our Guild (at the Dorset Steam Fair) of the Ypres Memorial Bells on their way to Belgium.
If you do any special ringing please can you let me know and/ or ‘link’ your performance to the diary event on BellBoard.

I went to Taylor’s on Saturday. Brilliant! Frame has 7 bells. The Tenor will be hung separately.
Every bell has a ring of poppies around it. They are dedicated separately …
