On Saturday 11th October the Beaminster Bellringers and friends went for our annual outing, and again we were treated to some of South Somerset’s fine bells.
We started the day at Shepton Beauchamp, warmly welcomed with coffee! Some enjoyable ringing on these wonderful 12 little bells, and first time ringing on 12 for most of our members. Plenty of call changes and some St Clements Minor on the back six.
Then down the lane to South Petherton, a hearty 12 where we were treated to our best ringing of the day, from very well struck rounds to Stedman Triples on the middle 8, and a glorious course of Plain Bob Major on the back 8.
Lunch at the Helyar Arms, and a well earned rest before heading up the steep slope to the 8 at East Coker for call changes, plain hunt triples and a lovely course of Cambridge Minor on the back six.
Our final tower was the 8 at the gorgeously rustic Hardington Mandeville, a tired band worked hard on these lovely bells.
A route and pub I’d happily recommend to anyone for tower outings, it was a lovely day out and not too much travel between towers.
Our thanks to Sally and Sue for organising, and we look forward to next year’s adventure!
