On Saturday 12 April the members of Dorchester Branch held their annual striking competition in Upwey.
This year’s competition attracted a higher number of entries than usual, with eight teams representing Buckland Newton, Charminster, Milborne St Andrew, Piddlehinton, Upwey and Wyke Regis. The performances included Call Changes, Plain Hunt and Plain Bob Doubles and with the sun was shining, it was a very pleasant afternoon listening to the performances from the church yard.
The competition was expertly judged by Julie Miles and Louisa Stuckey of the Marlborough Branch who concluded that the quality of striking was generally high and awarded first place to Wyke Regis, who narrowly beat last years winners Buckland Newton by half a fault!
There followed a fantastic tea provided by the Upwey ringers before the afternoon finished with some general ringing. A big thank you to everybody involved in organising a very enjoyable afternoon.
