Lowering in Peal

Here is a complementary download from Geoff Pullin to go with the one we recently published on the website – this time about the art of lowering in peal.

As I said in the earlier article, raising and lowering in peal is one of those magical arts which brings admiration from all quarters.

It requires skill and concentration but the joy of being involved in a good raise or lower far outweighs any effort involved in achieving it.

By studying the skills and principles outlined and practising at every opportunity you will master the subtleties of raising in peal which, I’m sure, will bring great pleasure and satisfaction.

Being able to raise and lower in peal really is something to be proud of – with practice all ringers can achieve it.  The fine-tuned handling and listening skills we acquire in the pursuit of this capability will also have a huge impact in the quality of our striking in general ringing of methods and call changes.

I’d encourage you to print this pdf and put it up in your tower along with the one on raising.
