If you follow Ben Maton – the Salisbury Organist – you may have seen his recent video where he was foiled by a quarter peal being rung at Tollard Royal where he was intending to play the organ.
What you may not know is that was a quarter which included our very own Guild President, Pat Davidson, past President, Judith Williamson and other notable (notorious?) guild ringers – details below.
Anyway, Ben seemed to enjoy the unexpected performance and had some very nice things to say about the ringing of church bells.
If you haven’t seen Ben’s videos they are a lovely way of having a few tranquil moments sharing his obvious enthusiasm for his instrument as he wanders around remote churches and plays some lovely music on their always interesting organs.
