Church bellringing in the Salisbury Diocese

Who’s Who? LEBRF Administrator

Anne Wardell has been the the Administrator for the LEBRF since 2019 in a role that is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Guild’s Bell Restoration Fund and supporting the LEBRF Trustees in their roles. She is also the main point of contact for anything LEBRF-related.

The Administrator’s responsibilities are laid out in the Fund Rules and include taking care of financial administration, preparing accounts and managing the processing of grant applications and payments.

Anne has lived in and around Pewsey (Wiltshire) since 1998, ringing at Milton Lilbourne, Pewsey, Wootton Rivers and Upavon Churches. She’s married to Tower Captain, Chris Wardell, whom she first met in 1999 when she decided to learn bellringing to celebrate the Millennium, and he was the Tower Captain at Milton Lilbourne. This initial meeting led to their marriage and her ongoing involvement in bellringing!

Anne says, “I tend to concentrate on co-ordinating our large band of ringers across our 4 churches, which often have 3 Sunday services to ring for at the same time – and Remembrance Day is even more of a challenge. Unsurprisingly, my background is in business: I worked for over 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry in Sales and Marketing, latterly running my own business as an Executive Coach and Advisor to various companies in that sector.”

She describes herself as a ‘hobby ringer’: “I am very happy ringing rounds, call changes and Plain Hunt for Sunday services, weddings and important events, but have absolutely no desire to ring quarter peals or do tower grabs – I leave that to Chris and his protégées!”
