Although the sunny days have gone away for a while, we were fortunate to have a beautiful day for the AGM on 10th May at Canford Magna. A wide variety of ringing took place from Call changes to London Surprise Minor by around 70 people who then attended the meeting. The East Dorset team looked after everyone very well and provided a sumptuous tea, thank you to them all.
The business meeting was just about an hour long and the revised Guild Rules were passed with a large majority. Please do have a look at them as they give the Guild and its members a structure within which to operate. Following on from this the executive will be leading work to write policies, procedures and Guidelines to support enaction of the rules.
Summer brings with it Striking competitions and Branch Outings and I am delighted to see the reports being posted on the Guild website. There seems to be an increase in people taking part in striking competitions which is great news. Good striking is something truly rewarding and worth working for. The Guild Novice striking competiton takes place at Motcombe on 12th July. In a change from past years this is only for novices, although they can have a supporter with them while they ring, with the aim of having a fun afternoon which shouldn’t be too scary or challenging. Please do enter a team if you have not already!
Hopefully you will have noticed some articles and links on the website related to teaching and learning. These are part of the work of the Recruitment and Development Workgroup and will be continuing on a variety of themes over the next months.
And finally Go Bellistic will be competing in the Ringing World National Youth competition in Birmingham on 5th July. They have been busy fundraising for the trip and I wish them all the best as they prepare for and take part in what is always an amazing experience and fun day.
