This is a reminder that Salisbury Guild Quarter Peal Week runs from Saturday 2nd until Sunday 10th November 2024. Now, I can hear you saying – “that’s more than a week” and yes, it is! Including the weekends at either end gives us time to ring even more quarters!
This is a great opportunity to organise some special quarters to help members of your band and branch achieve a first quarter, a first in a new method or even as a conductor. If you would like to ring a quarter but don’t have enough ringers in your tower please do contact your Branch Ringing Master who I am sure will be only too pleased to help you find a band.
Remembrance Sunday falls within this time and what better time to draw the attention of your parishioners to the purpose of bells with a quarter peal. An ideal opportunity to ring the bells half-muffled too, something we don’t often have the opportunity to do.
Please will conductors when submitting their quarters on Bellboard link them to the SDGR Quarter Peal Week event. Please do not send to the Ringing World direct, so that all quarters can be collated and sent en bloc. Please submit them individually as soon as you can after they have been rung, rather than leaving to do all together at the end.
