Bryan Castle Legacy

The LEBRF was grateful to receive a £5,000 legacy in 2023 from the estate of Bryan Castle HLM who died in June 2021.

Much of the fund’s income comes from legacies and generous bequests such as this ensure we are able to continue our important work.

Bryan came to Marlborough in 1974 and joined St Mary’s ringers at once where he learned to ring.  He was a very loyal member of church & tower and was for many years on the PCC.  He could always be counted on to ring regularly at St Mary’s; was Tower Correspondent for a time and then Tower Chairman which he remained  until 2019/20.

As Branch Secretary from 1976 to 1982, his greatest contribution was visiting all the towers to meet the ringers, and getting everyone to support the LEBRF.  His really interesting Branch Secretary’s Reports were notable because over the years they got longer & longer and he was deeply honoured to be made an HLM of the Guild.

There was a full obituary in Face to Face which you can find in the archive.
