Chairman’s Challenge Finale at Amesbury

During the year our Chair, Liz Wrighton, has been setting us some ringing related challenges from which we could earn points. These included a word search, some Dingbats and other puzzles. Attendance at branch events also earned points.
On Saturday 28th September a grande finale was held at the church of St Mary and St Melor, Amesbury.

The event kicked off with a treasure hunt around Amesbury town centre which was great fun.  We also had a branch meeting, a surprise striking completion where teams were made up on the spot by drawing numbers from a hat, and of course a sumptuous ringers tea prepared by Liz and her husband Peter who is a very loyal ringing groupie!
The striking completion had 6 teams and was Judged by Martin Willson from Downton, and the winning team won some sweets to share.

During the meeting we were delighted to welcome 3 new members all aged under 16 from Dinton, and to award ART certificates to 10 people who have achieved Level 1 or Level 2.

The winners of the chairman’s challenge were Committee members Louise, Margaret, Rhoda and Vice President Neil Skelton.  It is planned to have a different Chairman’s Challenge next year and more members are encouraged to join in – if only to stop the committee winning!
