A glorious day set the happy mood for the Guild’s Striking Competitions held on Saturday, 13th June.
Bradford Peverell was the host for the morning’s Call Change competition and in the afternoon the Six Bell competition was held at Martinstown.
The overall standard of ringing was acknowledged to be very good and there has been a notable improvement right across the board over recent years.
Call Change Competition Results
This was the first year of the Call Change division; its purpose is as an intermediate event for those who have previously participated in the Novice Competition to help further their ringing before advancing to method ringing. The aim is to promote and improve the standard of ringing with an emphasis on good striking and rhythm.

6-Bell Method Competition Results
It was very satisfying to see 9 teams enter the competition from across the Guild: Buckland Newton, West Dorset, Salisbury Branch, Trowbridge, Blandford Forum, Melksham, Dorchester Branch, Evershot and Wimborne Minster.
Hayley Newman and Rhoda Willson judged the competition and when summarising the ringing commented on the high standard of the whole field.

- Blandford Forum
- Wimborne Minster

- West Dorset
- Dorchester Branch
- Salisbury Branch
- Buckland Newton
- Trowbridge
All teams bar one rang Grandsire or Plain Bob doubles but a special mention should go to Dorchester Branch who bravely rang London Surprise Minor as their test piece; acquitting themselves very well though their position of 6th place, perhaps reflected the choice of a method that is notoriously difficult to strike perfectly.
