Many thanks to Paul Tyson, Tower Captain at Canford Magna, for hosting a ‘taster session’ on Saturday 18th July for my colleagues at Dorset Police, Madeira Road, Bournemouth.
Four of my work friends came along and had a ‘brilliant day’ – to quote Mollie who sent a ‘thank you’ message afterwards. They were all keen & enthusiastic and asked many questions, each having a turn ringing both hand and back stroke, and chiming a bell.
Paul had brought his laptop with a video of ringing, and also had a model of a bell; I had previously taken a model to work for everyone to see.
Thank you to Dorchester Branch members Chris. White, Paul Cottingham & Andrew Brown who came along to help, plus thanks to Cathy, Caroline & Kathryn (Canford Magna ringers) for giving up their Saturday morning so that Mollie, Steve, Bill & Sharon could watch a band in action.
Afterwards, several of us enjoyed lunch at the nearby Fox & Hounds. Having shown an interest, I can guide them to their nearest tower if they wish to carry it forward.
