Mere Branch Skittles, Quiz and Supper

Skittles evening
Mere Branch Skittles Evening

Skittles always bring out the friendly rivalries in the West Country and Mere Branch of the SDGR is no exception. Their popular skittles evening took place on Thursday 20th October to raise funds for the LEBRF. Twenty two members gathered at The Home Guard Club, Kilmington, for some friendly competition at the skittle alley, a test of knowledge with a quiz plus the chance to win a prize in the raffle. Members were also delighted to welcome Guild President, Judith Williamson and Guild Master Vicki Rowse, as well as LEBRF Trustee, Keith Woodward.

After three rounds of skittles it was a close run finish for the gentlemen’s side – but Sturminster Tower Captain, Nick Dallison won over the competition by just one point whilst on the ladies side, Lucie Payne from Maiden Bradley took the honours. The quiz was won by Janet Elvin after a tie break question decider.

The Home Guard Club provided those attending with a light supper which was much appreciated and at the end of the evening, Branch Chairman Len Roberts was delighted to announce that we had raised £170.00 to be donated to the LEBRF. He thanked all those who had provided prizes, the questions for the quiz and for everyone who had come along to enjoy the evening.
