New Band at Semley

I’m pleased to report that we now have a new band of ringers – all novices or not much beyond that – but a new band none-the-less!.

We have been learning to ring mainly Margaret Marsh and also in other towers and currently practice at our home tower on 1st and 3rd Thursdays (7-8.30pm). As we progress we plan to increase the frequency of practices and start ringing before Sunday services. We are also collaborating with the 2 other active towers in our Benefice – East Knoyle and Donhead St Mary. Collaboration may also be the route to bringing on learners and sustaining ringing in all our towers.

Additionally, at Semley, we are contemplating a bell restoration project which could include lighter bells or a training bell / dumb bell which will mean that we will be able to offer teaching in the future. We are enormously grateful for all the advice, encouragement and practical help we have received from the Mere Branch.
