It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Peter Baker HLM has died at Salisbury District Hospital following a fall on Friday 26 July. Peter attended practice at Westbury as usual on the 23rd and was due to ring for Sunday service on the 28th, so this has come as a great shock.
Peter was Tower Captain at Westbury for 40 years, stepping down just earlier this year. He was also Branch Treasurer for the Devizes Branch from 1992 to 2003 and then Branch Chairman from 2004 to 2010. He was the LEBRF Trustee for the Devizes branch from 2000 until he stood down in January 2023 and for many years served as a wise Chairman of the Trustees until handing over the baton in 2022.
His Funeral will be held at 2.30pm on Monday 19 August at All Saints Church, Westbury BA13 3DA.
Family flowers only please but donations to Wiltshire Air Ambulance would be very much appreciated. Details of the wake will be advised after the service.
The local band will be ringing before the service with the tenor tolling just prior to the start. There will be general ringing after the service. The bells will be half-muffled.
Our sympathies are with his wife, Shirley, and their family at this very difficult time.
